What is Robo Race Competition?
Robo Race is a competition where high-speed mobile robots race through an obstacle-laden track featuring ramps, bridge crossings, sharp hairpin curves, and rough terrain. Robots emphasize rapid straight-line acceleration, responsive steering balance, and maximum tire floor grip.
Typical Track Layout & Race Structure
Arena & Track Layout
Track lengths range from 20 to 50 meters, featuring wooden ramps (15°–30° incline), rumble strips, sand/gravel sections, 90° bends, and chicanes.
Match & Round Structure
Teams participate in individual timed laps. Penalties (typically 5–10 second time additions) are imposed for hitting lane boundaries or requiring hand-touches.
Scoring & Penalties
The robot that completes the course with the lowest overall elapsed time (inclusive of obstacle penalties) secures victory.

Track Preparation & Tuning Strategy
- 1Optimize tire foam density: high-traction rubber tires with firm foam inserts prevent sidewall rolling during high-speed banked turns.

- 3Set dual rates on steering: limit maximum steering angle to prevent spin-outs at wide open throttle.
- 4Simulate ramp approaches: confirm the front bumper angle of approach clears steep 30° incline transitions without bottoming out.
